Computer Simulations in Ion-Atom Collisions

چکیده
Computer simulation has become increasingly important over the last 50 years for modelling and solving different ideas within science. One area in science that computer simulation and its applications is extensively used is Ion-Atom collisions. There are many different aspects to these collisions but this poster will concentrate on measuring the Triply Differential Cross Section (TDCS) for single ionization of He-atom by 3.6 MeV amu Au Experimental data for TDCS [1] have shown discrepancies with theoretical results obtained using the Continuum distorted wave-eikonal initial state (CDW-EIS) model [2]. It was suggested that the possible reason for these discrepancies was the omission of the internuclear potential. In this poster the results presented are from variations of the CDW-EIS model, all including the internuclear potential.

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملFast Computation of High Energy Elastic Collision Scattering Angle for Electric Propulsion Plume Simulation
In the plumes of Hall thrusters and ion thrusters, high energy ions experience elastic collisions with slow neutral atoms. These collisions involve a process of momentum exchange, altering the initial velocity vectors of the collision pair. In addition to the momentum exchange process, ions and atoms can exchange an electron, resulting in slow charge-exchange ions and fast atoms. In these simul...
متن کاملDesign and Simulation of Hot Cathode Ionization Vacuum Gauge with no X-Ray Limitations
In this paper, the MEMS type ionization gauge with no X-Ray limitations has been presented. Having the dimensions of 2.4 mm× 0.8mm × 1.4 mm, the designed gauge is 9000 times smaller than the conventional type and can operate in HV and UHV pressures up to 5×10-9 torr. Operating at the temperature of 750°C, the cathode of proposed gauge is implemented using nickel and works in a way in...
متن کاملSpin controlled atom-ion inelastic collisions
The control of ultracold collisions between neutral atoms is an extensive and successful field of study. The tools developed in this field allow for ultracold chemical reactions to be managed using magnetic fields1, light fields2 and spin-state manipulation of the colliding particles3 among other methods. Control of chemical reactions in ultracold atom-ion collisions is a young and growing fiel...
متن کاملX-ray production by ion bombardment
2014 The available experimental and theoretical results on ion induced X-rays are briefly surveyed. From experimental data it may be concluded that the mechanism for inner shell excitation by heavy ion-atom collisions is different from that for proton-atom collisions. The latter are described successfully in Plane Wave Born Approximation (PWBA) and in classical Binary Encounter Approximation (B...
